"This is it, look no further. This single is going to change the sound of club music for the next 15 years" - Brian Eno to David Bowie in 1977 after hearing "I Feel Love".
Indeed, Eno was quick to recognize the ingenuity and potential of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love", with its clinical, pulsating bass line, hypnotically vocal, and entirely synthesized rhythm that dispensed with the lush orchestral sound which, until then, had been an integral part of the disco sound. History has proven that the slick, sequencer-driven recording produced by Giorgio Moroder & Pete Bellotte was a pioneering masterpiece of EDM that didn't just revolutionize disco, but change the blueprint for dance music forever.
That one song with its thick beats, soaring synths, hypnotic rhythms and dreamy vocals is still the blueprint for electronic dance music (some 35 years later!) Explore the music that is blurring lines between artist, DJ and producer with Volume 1 of Lollipop's EDM 2012. See how far we've come.
